Comprehensive care coordination
To ease the care journey for families coming to Nicklaus Children’s from afar, the hospital’s multilingual Global Health concierge and clinical staff works individually with each family to coordinate all aspects of care, including:
• Around-the-clock access to a Global Health physician specialist who will help coordinate the plan of care for each child
• Transfer and review of medical records
• When indicated, patient transport is managed by the hospital’s LifeFlight® Critical Care Transport team, or other air ambulance
• Assistance for families in coordinating visas and immigration requirements as well as travel and accommodation
• Health insurance verification and cost-of-care estimates
• Follow up care for patients transitioning back home, including coordination with the home-based physician team.

Nicklaus Children’s, now celebrating its 75th anniversary, is renowned for excellence in all aspects of paediatric medicine. Its 850-member medical staff includes 500 paediatric subspecialists, including experts in most every subspecialty. A particular draw for international patients is the hospital’s four clinical institutes, each offering the pinnacle of specialty care. Nicklaus Children’s Brain Institute The institute offers comprehensive medical care for the developing brain. Many of its multidisciplinary programmes represent the most advanced care offerings available anywhere in the world. Focuses run the gamut, including a comprehensive epilepsy programme for children with medically resistant seizures, a neuro-oncology programme, craniofacial centre, spasticity and movement disorders centre and many more. The institute is renowned for offering the latest treatments for the full range of paediatric cancers and blood disorders and is engaged in numerous clinical research studies focused on new cures, treatments and diagnostic procedures to manage paediatric malignancies. The programme’s blood and marrow transplant programme features some of the best outcomes in the nation.
Nicklaus Children’s Heart Institute
The Heart Institute is one of the region’s most comprehensive and innovative programmes dedicated to children and adults with congenital heart disease. The team is renowned for embracing emerging technologies to offer the best possible surgical and minimally invasive interventions and offers a continuum that extends from foetal diagnosis to birth, and care management from infancy, through childhood and adulthood.
Nicklaus Children’s Orthopaedic, Sports Medicine and Spine Institute
The institute is one of the nation’s largest and most innovative programmes for paediatric orthopaedic care. Areas of special focus include general orthopaedics, sports medicine, scoliosis and spine disorders, hip disorders, cerebral palsy, neuromuscular conditions, musculoskeletal oncology and more.
