Boston Medical Center selects hospital president, and more
Anthony Hollenberg, MD, has been named Boston Medical Center’s next president of the hospital.
Hollenberg will report to Alastair Bell, president and CEO of Boston Medical Center Health System.
He was named physician-in-chief of Boston Medical Center and the John Wade Professor and Chair of the Department of Medicine at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine in 2022.
“I’m truly honored to lead BMC and our world-class clinical, research, administrative and operational team members as our health system reimagines the future of equitable, expert care for our patients and members,” Hollenberg said. “I look forward to hearing from my colleagues across the hospital to build on their ideas and expertise to meet the health and social challenges of the patients we serve.”
His work and research has focused on thyroid disorders. He has published more than 100 original studies in journals.
Previously, Hollenberg served as physician-in-chief at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center.
“Dr. Hollenberg’s extensive leadership background at academic medical centers, demonstrated experience as a highly accomplished physician-researcher, and his longstanding commitment to clinical innovation and health equity make him ideal to drive BMC forward as a premier academic medical center,” Bell said in a statement.
Cleveland Clinic appoints chief information officer
Sarah Hatchett has been appointed the new senior vice president and chief information officer of Cleveland Clinic.
Hatchett began in the role on May 16. She has served as interim CIO since August 2023.
“This moment is incredibly special to me, and I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has supported me on this journey,” she wrote on LinkedIn. She added, “It is an honor to work alongside such a dedicated team, and I am excited about what we can achieve together.”
She brings more than 20 years of experience in information technology and healthcare leadership. She has led information technology integration at several hospitals in the Cleveland Clinic system.
Before joining Cleveland Clinic, she held leadership roles at NYC Health + Hospitals, Sutter Health and Epic.
“In healthcare, technology plays a crucial role in enhancing patient care, improving operational efficiency, and driving better outcomes,” Hatchett wrote on LinkedIn. “As we move forward, my focus will be on fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement, while always safeguarding our platform.”
HCA Midwest Health names CEO of hospital
Gabe Clements has been appointed the CEO of Lee’s Summit Medical Center in Missouri.
Clements served as chief operating officer of the medical center for four years. HCA Midwest Health made the announcement earlier this month.
“I’ve always been inspired by Lee’s Summit Medical Center’s focus on delivering high-quality patient care, along with its culture of collaboration,” Clements said in a statement. “It’s an honor to work alongside this compassionate family of caregivers. I’m excited to continue bringing even more services so the community can always access the best care locally.”
HCA Midwest Health CEO Keith Zimmerman called Clements “an outstanding leader with tremendous and impactful experience as an executive.”
“A problem-solver who cares deeply about the patients and families the hospital serves, and the doctors, nurses, and healthcare staff he works with, Gabe is poised to continue to make great contributions to elevate Lee’s Summit Medical Center,” Zimmerman said in a statement.
Clements has been part of HCA Healthcare since 2001. He previously served as vice president of operations of Centerpoint Medical Center.
WVU Medicine appoints interim president of two hospitals
John Forester has been named interim president of two hospitals within the WVU Health System.
Beginning July 1, Forester will serve as interim president of WVU Medicine Summersville Regional Medical Center and Braxton County Memorial Hospital.
He currently serves as a vice president at United Hospital Center and the WVU Health System as well as the CEO of United Physicians Care, Inc..
Forester first came to the WVU Health System in 2008. Before coming to WVU, he held several leadership positions with HealthSouth, including serving as CEO of its locations in Morgantown and Huntington.
He said it’s an “honor and privilege” to lead the two hospitals.
“I am committed to working closely with both physicians and employees in guiding these truly remarkable hospitals,” Forester said in a statement. “My goal is to continue to provide outstanding service to our patients who entrust us with their care.”
